South Hams: Pedestrian Killed On The A38

A man has died following a serious road traffic collision which closed the A38 at Lee Mill for 8 hours.

At about 10:30pm on Sunday 14th July 2013 near the Industrial Estate, a pedestrian has been in collision with a vehicle in the carriageway of A38. 

The A38 reopened around 06:45am - Diversions had been put in place with motorists rejoining at Ivybridge.

The pedestrian is a white male aged about 50-years old wearing a black shirt and khaki shorts. 

This male was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Next of Kin are being identified and informed. 

Police have made an urgent appeal for witnesses: 

  • Any witnesses who saw a male person fitting the description walking along the side of or on the A38 in the vicinity at that time. 
  • Any witnesses who saw a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle in the vicinity at that time. 
  • Anyone with any knowledge of the incident or knowledge of any vehicle with recent damage consistent with colliding with a pedestrian.
