A man is in hospital in a critical condition following a collision on the A14 this morning.
Police were called at around 12:10am to a report that a car had driven into the back of a HGV lorry parked in a layby on the westbound carriageway of the A14 at Haughley.
A man was found in the car, a silver Vauxhall Insignia, conscious and breathing but with serious injuries. The man, who is in his thirties, was taken to West Suffolk Hospital but has since been transferred to Addenbrookes where he remains this morning in a critical condition.
The road was closed in both directions for a period of time and diversions were put in place. The road has again been closed this morning while the lorry is recovered.
Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 101.
