The Ipswich Regent Theatre has announced that the new date for Alexandra Burke's show will be Thursday 24th February 2011.
The show this Saturday, the 22nd of January had to be cancelled after some ornamental plasterwork was discovered on the floor of the circle while the theatre was closed late last week. The theatre will remain closed while these continue and until any relevant repairs have taken place.
A theatre spokesman said: "The height of the ceiling requires extensive scaffolding to allow for more detailed examinations and repair work. We apologise to our customers but their safety is of paramount importance. We cannot say exactly how long the scaffolding and repair work will take but we are hopeful that we will be back in business by early February."
The Regent Theatre also says they are grateful to Alexandra, her management and promoters for rescheduling the date. The theatre is delighted that her fans in Ipswich and Suffolk will still be able to experience her superb touring show.
Tickets for the performance this Saturday 22nd January will remain valid for the new date. Ticket holders unable to attend on the new date should contact their point of purchase for a refund. Any tickets returned will be made available for sale through the Regent Theatre's box office at www.ipswichregent.com or the Ipswich Regent Box Office Tel: 01473 433100.
