Barbados: Two Charged After Suffolk Couple Shot

Police investigating the shooting of a Suffolk couple on holiday in Barbados say they have charged two men.

Cruise passengers Ann Prior, 59, and her husband Philip, 72, from Bedfield near Framlingham were shot in front of other tourists during a robbery on the Caribbean island on Sunday, March 17.

They were on a three month P&O cruise around the Caribbean when they were shot during a land stop-off in Bridgetown.

The couple were taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment and are understood to have left the island in good spirits'.

Police expect the two suspects to be brought before a court in the next 24 hours.

Their identity has not been revealed. Inspector David Welch, of Royal Barbados Police, said: "Two persons have been charged.

"One person was charged with serious bodily harm to two visitors. He has, in addition, been charged with another man, with the offence of robbery.''
