Police in Suffolk are appealing for help after a hat was found next to a hole in a frozen river at Brandon.
Police were called at approximately 3.20pm this afternoon, Sunday 12 February from a member of the public, who had concerns after seeing the hat on the frozen water of the Little Ouse River near Church Road.
The caller told police he could see footprints leading from the bank, going across the river. He could see a hole broken in the ice and a hat to one side.
The stretch of river is behind the Sports Centre in Church Road, Brandon.
Police, Fire and Ambulance together with the RAF Search and Rescue helicopter have spent the afternoon trying to find if someone has fallen into the frozen river.
Police are staying at the scene into the evening and are asking anyone with information to call them on 101.
