Bury St Edmunds: Man Robbed At Gunpoint For Rolex

A man's been robbed at gunpoint as he answered a newspaper advert in Bury St Edmunds.

At approximately 11pm on Monday 29 July the man who is from Hertfordshire came to an address in Thompson Walk, Bury St Edmunds to respond to an online classified advert for a watch that was being sold.

The man arrived at the address and before knocking on the door was approached by six men who appeared from an alleyway.

Two of the men threatened him with what appeared to be handguns and then assaulted him breaking a tooth and possibly his jaw. The men took his Rolex watch from him and a large quantity of cash before making off.

The victim returned to his home in Hertfordshire and contacted police at around 6.30pm last night, Thursday 1 August.

Officers are making arrangements to visit the man to take a full statement and account of what happened and are appealing for witnesses.
