A soldier from Bury St Edmunds has been charged after border officers at Heathrow Airport seized five kilos of cocaine.

26 year old Daryl Archer, who's based at Colchester barracks in Essex, was arrested at the airport on Wednesday after arriving from Sao Paulo in Brazil.

The case was referred to the National Crime Agency's Border Policing Command and Archer was later charged with attempting to import a class A drug.

He's due to appear at Isleworth Crown Court on January the 23rd.

A Home Office spokesperson said:

"In making this seizure Border Force officers have prevented a substantial amount of class A drugs reaching the streets of the UK."
