Bury St Eds: Further Arrest After Jewellers Murder

66-year-old Peter Avis was found at his flat on Abbeygate in Bury St Edmunds in January.

Mr Avis's body was found on Friday 13 January, at his home above the Collis and Son jewellery shop in Abbeygate Street, Bury St Edmunds.

Aleksandra Karpiuk, aged 27 years, from Lake Avenue, Bury St Edmunds has been charged with conspiracy to commit a burglary at the address in Abbeygate Street, Bury St Edmunds between 1 December 2011 and 13 January 2012.

Karpuik has been bailed to appear before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 9 May 2012.

 

So far the following arrests and charges have been made:

 

Kamil Kita, 20-year-old man of no fixed abode charged with murder of Peter Avis.

Pawel Pacian, 35-year-old man of Lake Avenue in Bury St Edmunds charged with conspiracy to commit burglary.

Pawel Borowiecki, 30-year-old man of Roslyn Road in London, charged with conspiracy to commit burglary.

All three have been remanded into custody.

 

26-year-old man from Bury arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary. Bailed to 11 May.

18-year-old man from Bury arrested on suspicion of murder and conspiracy to commit burglary. Bailed to 9 May.

27-year-old woman from Bury arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary. Bailed to 9 May. 

19-year-old woman from London arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. Bailed to 13 June.

39-year-old man from London arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. Bailed to 13 June.

18-year-old man from London arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. Bailed to 13 June. 

30-year-old man from London arrested on suspicion of murder, bailed to 23 May.

35-year-old man from Bury arrested on suspicion of murder, bailed to 22 May.

Pytor Melaniuk, a 28-year-old man Suffolk Police wanted to question in connection with the murder was detained in Poland on Thursday 16 February in connection with an unrelated matter.

Suffolk Police are liaising with the Polish Authorities and the Crown Prosecution Service with a view to begin the extradition process.
