A man from Essex who has spent the last 20 years living in the USA will appear in court this morning charged with stealing a security van back in 1993 containing £1.2 million.
Edward 'Eddie' Maher, 57, who is originally from South Woodham Ferrers, Essex, had been wanted by Suffolk Police since the Securicor van he was driving vanished from outside Lloyds Bank, Felixstowe, in January 1993.
A security guard had gone into the bank to make their delivery, but when he came out the van had gone.
Maher was arrested in the US last February and is expected to appear at Southwark Crown Court this morning.
