Lowestoft Police are appealing for information after two robberies in the town over the weekend.

The first happened at the BP Garage in Mill Road around 10pm on Friday night, 26 February. A man – described as white, wearing big Aviator-style sunglasses, a dark navy mid-thigh length coat with the hood up and dark blue jeans, possibly in his 20s, and of stocky build with broad shoulders – entered the petrol station, approached the woman behind the till and demanded she hand over money.

A quantity of cash was handed over and the offender grabbed the notes and put them into a Tesco carrier bag. The offender was seen walking off towards London Road South.

The second incident occurred at the Kirkley Run Service Station around 9.50pm last night.

A man described as around 5ft 7ins tall, of medium build, wearing a black and white broad striped hat that was pulled down over his face entered the premises and produced what appeared to be a small handgun.

He then demanded that the woman behind the counter hand over cash. A quantity of cash was taken from the till and the offender fled.

No one was hurt in either of the incidents.

Police would like to speak to anyone who was in either of these areas around these times and are particularly keen to trace a customer – a man – who was in the Kirkley Run Service Station minutes before the incident last night as he may have information that can help the enquiry.

Anyone with information about either of the incidents, or the offenders, is asked to call Lowestoft CID on 01986 835300 or Crimestoppers, anonymously if required, on 0800 555 111.
