It happened as she walked through an alleyway in Haverhill just before midday on Tuesday (January 29).
The 13-year-old girl was walking along an alleyway near to Wortham Place when a man approached her. The man pushed her against some bushes and then grabbed her around the neck, the girl kicked out at him and he then ran off in the direction of Chalkstone Way.
The man is described as white, 25-30 years old; he wore a black hooded top with the hood up, dark blue jeans with a rip in the knee and gloves.
If you were in the area and saw this man, or recognise him from the description you are asked to call PC Carl Edley at Haverhill Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
