Police are appealing for witnesses after a member of the public was deliberately struck with a vehicle in Hitcham on Sunday.

Police were called at around 10.45am to reports that people had been harecoursing on private land in Hitcham.  When the landowner, a male in his 60’s, confronted them, they drove their vehicle at him, causing him to suffer a back injury and a cut hand.  The injuries are not thought to be serious but he is receiving treatment at West Suffolk Hospital.

The offenders also drove their vehicle towards a female, who was not hit, and drove their vehicle into the victims’ car before leaving in the direction of Preston St Mary.

Police officers are carrying out extensive enquiries in the area and are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the vehicle used by the offenders. It is described as a blue Subaru Legacy Estate, registration number T618 DFC.  It is thought to be extensively damaged. It is believed that either two or three offenders were involved in the incident.  The driver of the vehicle is described as a white male, aged 40-50 years old, around 5'9" tall, with light blonde hair.  A second male is described as being a white male, in his 30s, around 5'9" tall, with blonde hair, of muscular build, wearing a tight blue t-shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Suffolk Police on 101.
