Ipswich: Attempted Armed Robberies

Suffolk Police are appealing for information following two attempted armed robberies in the Ipswich overnight.

The first incident occurred at the One Stop on Cambridge Drive at around 9:45pm last night. A man entered the shop and approached a female member of staff, threatening her with a knife and demanding that she hand over money. The woman was able to alert another member of staff and the man left empty handed.

The second incident occurred at the Co-op shop on Sheldrake Drive at around 12:15am this morning. A man approached a male security guard, asking him for cash and to come into the shop. When he was informed that the shop was closed he threatened the guard with a knife before leaving the area along Sheldrake Drive towards Ellenbrook Green.

No one was hurt during either incident.

Police are currently linking the two crimes. The offender has been described as a man in his early twenties, of slim build and wearing a grey hooded top.
