A 44-year-old man of Ipswich has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence following an incident in Ipswich yesterday, Saturday 24 August.
Police were contacted by the man inside a property in Parnell Road at around 12:45pm who told officers that he had a firearm at the address.
Police are telling Heart they were concerned that the man may try and harm himself or others, and sent a number of units to the scene where the man had locked himself inside the property and was refusing to leave.
A police negotiator was sent in and was in contact with the man who eventually left the property and was then arrested by officers.
The stand-off lasted until around 8pm last night.
He has been taken to the Martlesham Police Investigation Centre.
