A man's suffered serious injuries after falling 50 feet on a ship in Suffolk.

East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST) crews were called to the quay at Cliff Road in Ipswich at 3.45pm yesterday.

The man, in his 40s, suffered a suspected fractured pelvis and spine after falling from the edge of the deck which opened out onto the steel hold.

EEAST sent an ambulance crew and two managers who worked with fire crews to free the man before treating him on scene.

They then took him to Ipswich Hospital for further treatment.
