Police are issuing CCTV images and an Efit picture of a man they want to speak to after a woman was robbed of her purse in Christchurch Park in Ipswich on Saturday morning.
The woman, in her late 30s, was near the bowling green at 11am when a man walked up to her and told her to hand over her purse. When she said no the man attacked her and she sustained a cut to her hand before the offender fled with her purse, heading off towards the war memorial.
The robber is described as black, about 6ft tall, of slim build, with a long face, big forehead and a clear complexion. He is thought to be aged in his 20s to 30s, had a two to three inch Afro-style haircut, and was wearing a grey jacket in a thin waterproof material that was zipped up to his neck. The Efit shows an image of the offender as put together by the woman.
The man in the CCTV images visited Christchurch Mansion around the time of the incident and police are keen to trace him as investigations continue.
If you were at the Mansion yesterday morning and saw him, or have any information about who he is please contact officers as soon as possible.
Detectives are also asking anyone who may have seen the incident, the offender in the area or anyone with any other information that may help to call Ipswich CID on 101 – or Crimestoppers, anonymously if required, on 0800 555 111.
