Lowestoft: Men Arrested After Armed Robbery
Lowestoft Police have arrested two people in connection with an attempted armed robbery at the Co-Op store at Westwood Avenue in Lowestoft which happened on Monday 27 May.
At approximately 6.05pm that day a man went into the store, approached a female member of staff behind the counter and demanded money from the till. When told the till could not be opened he made a further demand and produced what appeared to be a pistol. The man was then confronted by two other members of staff and he fled empty handed.
The offender is believed to have approached the premises on foot from Broadwaters Road.
No one was hurt in the incident although members of staff were left shaken by what happened.
Police arrested two people yesterday, Thursday 19 September and questioned them at the Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre.
A 23 year old man from Norwich was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in an attempted robbery and a 21 year old woman from Norwich was arrested on suspicion of attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Both have been bailed to return to the Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre on 22 October 2013.
