Police are investigating after thieves stole a rhino horn and skull during a burglary.

It happened at the Ipswich Museum on High Street in Ipswich during the early hours of this morning.

Officers were made aware of an alarm activation at the premises at around 12:27am. Upon arrival it was apparent that a back gate and then a ground floor fire exit had been forced in order to gain entry.

The offenders have then stolen the horn and skull of the rhino displayed in the museum.

Nothing else appears to have been taken.

Two men were seen to leave the premises and get into a silver saloon type vehicle before driving off.

Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to call DC Miranda Worne at Ipswich CID on 01473 613500 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
