A woman has been charged following a stabbing in Sudbury.

46-year-old Sonja Malyon, of Hoxter Way, is due to appear at Ipswich Magistrates Court this morning, Saturday 31 August, charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

It comes after police were contacted on Thursday (29 August) night to reports that a 43-year-old woman had arrived at the West Suffolk Hospital with a number of stab wounds to her upper body.

Officers began an investigation into what had happened and interviewed Miss Malyon. She was subsequently charged and has been detained to appear at court from 10am this morning.

She has also been charged with producing cannabis after a plant was found during searches.
