Police are investigating reports of a car getting damaged by something dropped from a bridge on the A14 at Hauley near Stowmarket in Suffolk.

It is claimed at approximately 12.20pm today, a 74 year old man driving a silver Nissan Aventura saw someone standing on the bridge at Warren Lane with their arm held high, as he passed under the bridge he heard a bang and saw that his windscreen had sustained damage.

The man believes something was thrown from the bridge on to his car.

Police searched the road but nothing was found.

The vehicle will require a new windscreen.

It comes after concrete blocks were dropped onto cars on a busy road in Essex last week that has left one woman in hospital.
