Suffolk: Mayor Crashes Car Into Supermarket

The new mayor of an area of Suffolk is recovering after driving his car into a branch of Tesco Express.

Terry Buckle, who was made Mayor of St Edmundsbury in a ceremony last week, accidentally drove a silver Vauxhall Vectra through the doors of the supermarket in Lawson Place, Bury St Edmunds, yesterday (Tuesday, May 21).

He was unharmed but suffered shock and was taken to hospital as a precaution. 

A spokeswoman for Suffolk Police said: "We were called at 4.35pm to a report that a silver Vauxhall Vectra had driven into the front of a Tesco Express on Lawson Place, Bury St Edmunds.

"The male driver was not injured.''

The East of England Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 4.38pm yesterday to a man in his 70s who had no obvious injuries, he was just in shock. He was taken to West Suffolk general as a precaution.''
