Suffolk: Special Appearance Of Olympians

Olympians and Torch bearers from Suffolk will come together to make a special appearance today in Ipswich.

They'll do a lap of honour at Ipswich Town Football Club before their first match of the season this afternoon as part of an event to celebrate their achievements.

Over 100 of Suffolk's Olympic heroes have been invited to a special civic reception at Suffolk County Council's Endeavour House headquarters and then they'll make their way to the football ground to do the lap of honour in front of all the fans.

The Athletes that have been selected are:

1. Anthony Ogogo from Lowestoft who won a bronze medal in the boxing

2. Harry Martin from Ipswich who played in the men's hockey side

3. Goldie Sayers from Newmarket who did the javelin

4. Louise Jukes who played handball

5. Chris Walker-Hebborn from Bury St Edmunds who competed in the swimming and

6. Elena Baltacha from Ipswich who played in the tennis

 

Over 85 Olympic torch bearers will also be there and they'll wear their full uniform to the event.
