Woodbridge: Assault After Jubilee Celebrations

6 June 2012, 07:18

Police are appealing for information after a man was assaulted on Monday night following Jubilee celebrations in Woodbridge.

The man, who is in his forties, was with his granddaughter in the car park by the Deben Swimming Pool and is believed to have asked a passing man to mind his language. The man then proceeded to punch and kick the man to the ground where he then continued the attack before walking off towards the town centre. It is believed the offender may then have made his way towards the Kings Head pub to meet friends.

The man was taken to Ipswich hospital with bruising and a possible broken nose but was able to return home during the early hours of yesterday morning.

There were a number of people in the area at the time and police are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident. Officers also believe there are people who know who committed the assault and are urging them to come forward.

If you have any information relating to this incident please contact Ipswich CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
