A 19-year-old is in a critical condition in hospital after being hit by a lorry on the A12 at Woodbridge.

The crash happened on the northbound carriageway of the A12, on the Woodbridge by pass, between the Wyevale and Woods Lane roundabouts at around 11.30pm last night.

A white Volvo lorry was travelling along the road when it was in collision with a 19 year old pedestrian, from the Woodbridge area, who was in the road.

Police, the ambulance service and the Suffolk Accident Rescue Service attended.

The man has serious head injuries and was initially taken to Ipswich Hospital but has since been transferred to Addenbrookes Hospital, where his condition is described as critical.

Police closed off the road in order to carry out the collision investigation, and the road reopened at 3.25am this morning.

Police want to speak to anyone who had been travelling along the A12 who had seen the pedestrian near or in the road, prior to the collision taking place, or witnesses who saw the collision.
