CCTV Released After Basingstoke Robbery

CCTV pictures have been released of two men detectives want to speak to in connection with an armed robbery in Basingstoke.

More than £10,000 was stolen from Wonderland, just off Churchill Way on Monday afternoon.

Two men walked into the club, threatened a member of staff with what is believed to have been a gun and tied him up.

The robbers are described as white and had their faces covered.

Basingstoke Robbery CCTVOne of the men was wearing a black padded jacket and dark trousers and the other was wearing grey trousers and a dark jacket.

Detective Constable Richard Chegwidden said: “This incident happened in the middle of the day in a busy area of Basingstoke.

“Were you driving between Eastrop Roundabout and Victory Roundabout at that time?

“Did you see two men near the entrance to Wonderland?

“We are very keen to speak to two pedestrians who separately crossed over Churchill Way from the bus station side of the road towards the Wonderland side of the road, shortly after 1pm.

“They may have information which could help this investigation.”

Now detectives are appealing for help in tracing a woman who is seen in the CCTV footage to cross over Churchill Way towards Wonderland at around the time when two men are seen walking into the club.

Detective Constable Richard Chegwidden said:

“This woman could have vital information which could assist our investigation. If this is you or you recognise her then please contact police as soon as possible.

“We are also still appealing for anyone who recognises the two men seen entering and exiting Wonderland to come forward.”

Detectives appealed earlier this week for information about the driver of a red car, who was considered a potential witness. The driver of this car has now come forward and spoken to officers.
