Newbury: Murder Investigation

A 60-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his wife who was found strangled at their home in a housing complex for the over-55s in Newbury.

Nigel Talman, of Newbury, Berkshire, has been charged with the murder of Sandra Talman, 62.

Mrs Talman was found dead at 7.30am on Sunday by officers who had been called to a "domestic incident'' at the property in Carnarvon Place.

A post-mortem examination showed that she died as a result of "compression to the neck'', according to Thames Valley Police.

Mr Talman appeared at Reading Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Reading Crown Court on Thursday.
