A woman has been rescued from an Oxford canal in the early hours of this morning.

Fire crews were called to rescue the student at around 1.45am.

She had fallen into the canal and was being held by an inflatable ring, thrown and held by her friends, and was partially under the bridge at Paradise St. when crews arrived.

Firefighters pulled her out from the water and took her up a ladder to the bridge. She was then taken to hospital by ambulance crews.
