Royal Berkshire Hospital Investigated

The health watchdog, Monitor has begun an investigation into the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

The NHS Foundation Trust behind the RBH is being investigated because of concerns about how it's performing.

Problems have been found in areas like patient waiting times and a worry over whether the hospital can meet national targets.

Monitor is also concerned that the trust is predicting that it may suffer larger financial losses this year than previously thought.

The watchdog's Regional Director, Paul Streat told us:

"Since August, the trust’s new Chief Executive has made some progress with tackling these issues, including making the trust leadership more effective.

However, we need to make sure the trust is doing enough to fix these problems and improve how the hospital is run for its patients."
