Soggy New Year In The Thames Valley
31 December 2013, 12:14
The Met Office have told Heart more rain's heading our way for tomorrow - and it's not great news for New Year's Eve revellers either.
Although some places will have a dry start at Midnight tonight - many locations will start off wet with blustery winds as showers spread east, sometimes heavy with hail.
During New Year's day in north Hampshire, Berkshire and parts of Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire - further rain, heavy at times, will spread quickly northeastwards on Wednesday.
Rainfall totals are expected to be widely 10-20 mm. South or southwesterly gales with gusts 50-60 mph on coasts and hills will accompany the rain.
The Met Office say with ground already saturated over much of this area, the public should be aware of the risk of further localised flooding.
WEATHER AFFECTING TRAVELLERS - CURRENTLY (1210hrs):
At Loddon Bridge - closed again today due to flooding
In Islip (as pictured) - Lower Street remains flooded near the bridge
In Sonning Common - the Stoke Row Road remains closed due to fallen power cables and emergency repairs around Colliers Lane.
