South East: 5,000 Homeless Children

25 December 2012, 08:00

On Christmas morning, Heart's being told more than 5,300 children in the South East will be waking up homeless.

The charity Shelter says of those around 500 families will be forced to live in B&Bs - which has risen by two thirds in the last year.

Last December, Shelter's helpline and local advice centres helped more than 1000 at risk of becoming homeless over Christmas. This December, the chairty is expecting even more people to contact them for help.
