A police officer has been suspended after losing a taser following a callout to Windsor
Police in Windsor are still searching for the taser, which was lost by the officer after leaving the Windsor Great Park area to attend a callout in the Datchet area on the afternoon of Tuesday 28th January 2014.
Supt Steve Williams, head of the tactical firearms unit, said: “We believe the device was lost in Windsor Great Park prior to the officer exiting the park into Bishops Gate Road.
“An extensive search is taking place to locate it and although the device has no cartridges attached to it, there is still the potential for it to cause harm if used or handled incorrectly.
“If any member of the public should come across this device they need to contact Thames Valley Police immediately for us to recover it, as it is an offence to unlawfully possess this sort of device.”
Thames Valley Police can confirm a full internal investigation of the incident has commenced and the officer has been suspended from his current duties.
