Woman Arrested at Witney Lights Switch-on

A woman has been charged by police after allegedly trying to climb over barriers as the prime minister David Cameron switched on Witney town centre's Christmas lights.

Bethan Tichborne, 28, from Campbell Road in Oxford, has been charged with one count of obstructing/resisting a constable in execution of their duty and one count of using threatening words/behaviour to cause harassment alarm or distress.

A Thames Valley Police spokesman said: "The charges are in connection with an incident in Witney at about 7pm last night, when a woman allegedly tried to climb over barriers at the Christmas lights switch on.''

The woman has been released on bail to appear at Oxford Magistrates' Court on December 19.
