Temporary Closure Of Devon Bus Station

Stagecoach South West today confirmed the temporary closure of Paignton Bus Station from 18th February to 24th May 2013. 

The closure is required in order to carry out essential renovation works to the main bus station canopy. 

However, the Paignton Travelshop will remain open for business. 

Closure in place from 18 February to 24 May 2013 Closure required in order to renovate the bus station roof canopy All services to arrive / depart from Hyde Road, Great Western Road & Torquay Road (opposite the Post Office) 

The bus operator has been working closely with Torbay Council's Public Transport & Highways Team and other bus operators to keep disruption to a minimum by agreeing facilities nearby for both vehicles and bus users. 

For the duration of the closure the following arrangements will be in place: 

Services from Hyde Road (existing bus stop) 

Stagecoach South West 5, X46, 88, 120 Local Link 25, 60, 61, 67, 108, 109 

Country Bus 7 Services from Hyde Road (temporary bus stop) (For the duration of the bus station closure, the 3 bays outside property numbers 33-37, next to the existing loading bay in Hyde Road will be designated as a temporary stop) 

Stagecoach South West 12/12A/12C travelling towards Brixham / South Devon College Services from outside Paignton Library & Info Centre, Great Western Road (existing bus stop) 

National Express All departures Local schools services 27, 30A/B First Bus X80/81 Riverlink 100 Services from opposite Post Office, Torquay Road (temporary bus stop) Stagecoach South West 12/12A travelling towards Torquay Michelle Hargreaves, Stagecoach South West's 

Managing Director, commented "I'd like to thank both Torbay Council and the other bus operators for their support in helping agree these temporary arrangements. 

I hope, as a result, passengers will experience the minimum of disruption and I look forward to welcoming them to a newly renovated bus station in time for the start of the summer season." 

Cllr Robert Excell, Torbay Council's Executive Lead for Safer Communities and Transport, said: "We welcome Stagecoach's scheme at the bus station. 

"We recognise that its temporary closure will affect the many people who use the Bay's comprehensive bus network. 

"We have liaised with bus operators to make sure we can provide temporary facilities that will keep inconvenience to a minimum."
