Torbay Hospital Re-opens

Visitors are now being allowed back into Torbay Hospital after the outbreak of Norovirus.

All wards at the hospital are taking new admissions again and the visitors ban which started ahead of the Easter weekend has been lifted.

Up to three wards at any one time have been affected by a sickness bug during the last fortnight.

A spokesperson from the hospital says, "The hospital extends its sincere thanks to everyone who has stayed away and helped to keep the majority of the wards clear of the unpleasant stomach bug – despite it having been prevalent across Devon in recent weeks."

"There is still a risk that the stomach bug may be brought in again, so the hospital continues to ask anyone who has had symptoms in the last few days – or been in close contact with someone who has - to think twice about visiting."
