130 rescued from hills in the summer

A Mountain Rescue team in North Wales has been called out to help more than 130 people over the summer holidays.

The Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue team say they have even had to deal with teenagers getting drunk and passing out on the hills.

The more routine calls see them help people who are lost or not properly prepared to hike up the mountainside.

Spokesman Chris Lloyd recalls one incident when a man went walking in tennis shoes with only a mobile phone to hand.

He said:

"He got lost in the cloud and was able to telephone out briefly before he lost signal.

"We had to go and find him and bring him off.

"He was cold and wet and I think he was quite glad to see us because he was in quite a difficult area."
