Care worker murder remand

A 53-year-old Gwynedd man has appeared before magistrates today accused of the murder of care worker Ffion Wyn Roberts.

Iestyn Davies, a factory worker from Porthmadog of no fixed address, was remanded in custody during a three-minute hearing at Caernarfon magistrates’ court. He is accused of killing the 22-year-old at Porthmadog on April 10.

He will next appear before Caernarfon crown court on July 9. His solicitor indicated that there would be no bail application in the meantime.

Davies, wearing a blue sweatshirt, appeared in the dock with two security guards. The hearing was in Welsh and he confirmed his name, date of birth and that he was of no fixed abode.

Ffion was found strangled in a drainage canal a short distance from her home after attending a party in a pub at Tremadog, a mile away.
