Denbighshire schools' consultation

Denbighshire Council is going to allow consultation on two proposals which will affect the future of primary school provision in Prestatyn.

The first proposal is to commence formal consultation regarding potential amalgamation of Bodnant Infants and Bodnant Juniors into a two form entry (60 pupils per year group) all through school on the existing sites.

The second proposal affects Ysgol Y Llys – to extend the school into a 2 form entry (420 full-time pupil places) primary school with an admission number of 60 pupils, subject to capital funding.

The consultation period for both these proposals will take place between 30 June and 24 September 2010. A report on the outcome of this consultation will be submitted to Cabinet on 26 October 2010. The consultation will involve pupils, parents, governors and staff of both schools, as well as neighbouring schools, the local community and interested parties.

These proposals are based on the recommendations of the 'Review of Primary School Provision in the Prestatyn Area' which has taken place over the past 14 months and included significant informal consultation with headteachers, chairs of governors and local elected members.

Information will be available to the public on Denbighshire's website www.denbighshire.gov.uk/modernisingeducation from 30 June.
