Flood defence success

Environment Agency Wales say a £7m flood defence in North Wales has worked.

Heavy rain hit all of the North West and North Wales over Saturday and Sunday with the river Conwy rising around Llanrwst and Trefriw in the Conwy Valley.

Despite one cafe in Llanrwst telling Heart that they've had 8 inches of water in there, Mike Davies the Area Flood Risk Manager for Environment Agency Wales, says the defense worked well:

"Elements of the work protect Trefriw and Llanrwst, now in a really extreme event there are properties and business in Llanrwst that would flood and the defences go some way to protecting them.

"The scheme was intended to protect houses and some business and it certainly did its part and succeeded in doing that."
