North Wales Couple Climb Everest

A couple from North Wales are busy training for the expedition of a lifetime...

Sarah Hart - from Anglesey - and her partner Steve Rogers plan to climb the world's highest mountain - Mount Everest - in March.

It's all in aid of children's charity Unicef.

Sarah - who works as a Probation Officer in Flintshire - says they've been training hard by going to their local gym and spending weekends hiking in the mountains of Snowdonia.

"It's a huge mental and physical challenge for both of us.  We're a bit nervous because it's the unknown.  But we're more excited than anything!"

Giving Back to Nepal

Sarah and Steve decided to raise money for Unicef because of the work they do with children who live near Mount Everest in Nepal.

Speaking to Heart, Sarah said:

"We wanted to give back to the area.  It's not that well publicised the problems in Nepal - around 50,000 children die each year there due to malnutrition.  We wanted to do something for them."

North Wales' Flag on the Top of the World

In order to raise money Sarah and Steve are offering businesses, schools and individuals in North Wales the chance to have their photo or logo on the flag they'll fly at the summit of Everest.
