An award winning doctor from the Midlands is trying to raise the profile of a children's condition that we normally associate with old age.
Kathy Bailey offers treatment and support to kids in the region with arthritis - and she told Heart that it's much more common than people think,
"One in every thousand children is diagnosed with arthritis each year, almost a many as diabetes, and yet there are hige gaps in awarenss, standards of care and access to services.
Arthritis is a an inflammatory autoimmune disease caused when a child's immune system starts attacking healthy joints, most commonly hands, feet and wrists.
It can also affect eyes in young people as well as otgher organs. It is deliberating long term condition that causes severe stiffness and is the biggest cause of childhood disability."
