A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a 28-year-old stabbing victim in Birmingham.
Naweed Bashardost is accused of killing Ikram Ullah Khan, who died after suffering a neck wound during disorder in the Sparkbrook area on July 2.
Bashardost, who was born in Afghanistan, was assisted by a Pashto interpreter during a four-minute hearing at Birmingham Magistrates' Court.
The 22-year-old, who gave his address as St Saviour's Road, Alum Rock, was remanded in custody to appear at a preliminary hearing at Birmingham Crown Court on Friday.
It was initially thought the victim, known locally as Ikram Elahi, had been shot, but post-mortem tests found his death was the result of a stab wound.
A total of 11 people have been detained in connection with disorder which occurred in Grantham Road and Farm Road on the evening of July 2.
Four men arrested on suspicion of attempted murder were subsequently released on conditional police bail, while another four arrested on suspicion of murder were later released without charge but remain on bail in connection with a separate disorder.
