Birmingham roads set for summer of improvement work.
Birmingham city centre road tunnels close later today for two weeks of overnight work ahead of a six-week total closure for the summer.
St Chad's and Queensway tunnels on the A38 will be closed for roadworks from 18 July until 1 September.
They were shut last summer for lighting and fire protection works.
This summer they will be fitted with security systems and new ventilation.
Offers are being introduced on rail and bus passes to ease the traffic flow.
People who work in the city centre are being urged to think about their travel over the summer closures as the Highways Agency says those who used public transport last year avoided the major delays.
