The first consultation meeting into potential job losses in the public sector in Birmingham takes place today.
Last month it was announced that almost 1,300 jobs could go at the City Council, with most cuts in Children's services affecting day nurseries and youth centres.
The Council say they need to review their work force and respond to current financial pressures - in which they need to save around 27 million pounds.
The 90 day consultation between Birmingham City Council and GMB is expected to conclude around the end of March.
