Investigation After Paramedics Couldn't Get Access To Seriously Ill Mother and Her Babies

An investigation's started after a seriously ill mother and her 2 premature babies weren't treated by ambulance crews quickly enough.

27 year old Jocelyn Bennet was in too much pain to be able to let ambulance crews in to her property last Wednesday and paramedics couldn't get emergency access into the block of flats in Winterbourne Croft after being called at 5.39am.

The police managed to get access to the block at 6.10am, 31 minutes after the first 999 call, when paramedics were then able to start treatment.

Birmingham City Council, which owns the flats, said it had systems allowing emergency services access, and an ``urgent investigation'' was now under way to find out what had happened.

 The young mum is now in a coma in hospital and the two twins Melody and Rosie had their life support machines turned off yesterday. (Tuesday).
