A mother and her baby son found dead in their Billesley home on Sunday died as a result of "pressure to the neck" post mortem results have concluded.
Pathologists carried out examinations on the bodies of 25-year-old Yvonne Walsh and seven-month old Harry today (June 4) and confirmed their cause of death.
Police discovered the mother and her son at around 10.30am on Sunday 2 June.
A 28-year-old man arrested in the Sandwell area on suspicion of both murders remains in a secure facility following an assessment by mental health professionals; he is currently deemed unfit to be interviewed by officers at this stage but the position is being continually reviewed.
The person in custody is known to the victims and officers are keen to stress that they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the killings.
Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area late Saturday night or early Sunday morning are urged to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
