Police have released CCTV images of a suspect after a man was stabbed in an argument in a block of flats in Birmingham.
The 31-year-old suffered eight stab wounds in a confrontation with another man outside Medway Tower on Cromwell Street around 8am on the morning of Saturday 23 August and spent several days in hospital. Fortunately he is continuing to make a full recovery, but detectives urgently need to trace the man responsible.
DC Sarah McDonnell, from Force CID, said: "The man had attended a gathering in a flat although he had not been invited and was not known to any of the people there. After words were exchanged with the victim, they went outside and got into a fight where the unknown man produced a knife.
"I urgently need anyone who knows the man or saw him on that Bank Holiday weekend to contact me."
Police arrived at the scene shortly after the attack but the man had fled. Forensic specialists cordoned off the scene to search for clues and everyone at the gathering was spoken to, but the man is yet to be identified.
Clear CCTV images have been recovered from the tower block’s systems and police are now appealing for anyone who recognises the man to come forward. He is described as aged around 27 and Somalian. He was wearing a striped short sleeved polo shirt and a distinctive red cap.
