Staffordshire Police Dog Retires

A police dog has been retired by his force after a career which saw him sniff out illegal drugs, guns and cash worth more than £11 million.
Springer spaniel Alfie is also estimated to have helped out in approximately 400 arrests during his service with Staffordshire Police.
Commenting on Alfie's recent retirement, Inspector Mat Derrick praised the commitment and dedication of Alfie and his handler, Pc Julie Hargreaves.
Mr Derrick said: "Although Alfie recently retired from active service with Staffordshire Police, he had a very busy eight years with the force.
"Pc Hargreaves is an outstanding dog-handler and together with PD Alfie they were an inseparable crime-fighting force.''
