Chippenham: Runner Dies After Collision With Car

A 20 year old woman who was seriously injured in a road traffic collision on the Bridge Centre roundabout in Chippenham on Saturday 16th November passed away at the weekend (23/24 Nov).
The collision took place at approximately 10:20am on the Bridge Centre roundabout at the junction with Bath Road. Initial enquires at the scene indicated that the casualty, from the Chippenham area, was out running and was crossing the road when she was struck by a Silver Citroen C1.
As a result of the collision she sustained serious injuries and was flown to Frenchay Hospital by air ambulance. Despite undergoing surgery she remained in a very serious condition and never recovered.
The road was closed for 4 hours whilst officers from the Wiltshire Police Serious Collision Investigation Team (SCIT) commenced an investigation into the circumstances of the collision. No one else was injured.
