A man has been approached from behind, punched in the stomach, and stabbed in the leg by an unknown attacker in Melksham.
Police say it happened around 3am, near the underpass on Bath Road on Sunday 25th May. The victim was stabbed in his inner thigh.
The attacker then ran off towards the town centre.
He is described as white, around 6ft, wearing a light grey hoody, dark trousers and light trainers.
Detective Sergeant Andy Morley said: "I'd ask anyone who was on Bath Road or the surrounding areas in the early hours of Sunday morning to come forward with any information they may have.
"Thankfully, the victim was not badly hurt but we are treating this extremely seriously.
"I'd like to reassure the local community that incidents such as this are rare and we are doing all we can to find the person responsible for this crime."
