Swindon: Toddler Assaulted
13 January 2014, 16:08
Wiltshire Police is appealing for witnesses following an assault on a 2 year old boy in Swindon town centre.
The incident took place in the underpass that runs from Fleming Way to the town centre at approximately 4.40pm yesterday (January 12th 2014).
A man and a woman were pushing their two-year-old son in a pushchair along the underpass when someone threw a potato which struck the child on the face.
This resulted in the child suffering a cut to his lip.
The boy’s father gave chase to two men seen running away from the scene but they managed to get away.
One is described as wearing a black coat and the other is described as wearing a grey top with a cream and black chequered pattern on.
It is thought the male in the black coat ran into the Wetherspoons pub on Fleet Street and the other male ran along Fleet Street towards Faringdon Road.
Police officers were alerted to the incident and conducted an area search for the men but this was unsuccessful.
Anyone in the Fleming Way area during the time of the offence or who may have information on the incident is asked to contact Wiltshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously.
